REGISTRY OF THE SUPREME COURT OF CANADA

Since January 2019, the Government of Canada, represented by the Attorneys General of Canada, shifted a crucial part of the powers of the Supreme Court of Canada to its Registry Officers and the Registry. Such unprecedented shift took place in secret, without the approval of Parliament or the Senate. It is a significant reduction of the original powers of the nine justices of the SCC.
